H. Reuben Reynolds photograph collection, 1930-1980

Abstract: Black and white and color negatives, transparencies, and prints, primarily of scenes from Utah State University (then Utah State Agricultural College), Cache Valley, and other locales. Some personal/family images are included.

Herald Journal Newspaper photographs, 1969-1996

Abstract: The Herald Journal photograph collection consists of 67 boxes with approximately 3,000 batches of 35mm and 120mm black and white and color negatives taken between 1969-1990 as well as prints and proof sheets. Photographs from this collection document accidents, social and public events, organizations, buildings, government, and businesses in Cache Valley. Also included are scenic views of the area and scenes from Utah State University and public schools.

Ariel Benson photograph collection., 1948-1993

Abstract: The Ariel Benson photograph collection consists of USU images (fraternities and sororities, ROTC, sports, the T.U.B., student clubs and groups), Richmond, Utah images including businesses, Boy Scouts, Black and White Days, the 1962 earthquake, and images from Sky View/North Cache High School including sports, class reunions, musicals, glee club, cheerleaders, band, and choir. Also included are numerous individual studio portraits and wedding images from Benson's private business.

USU Photographic Services Collection., 1943-1984

Abstract: Collection consists of 4x5, 70mm, and 35mm black and white negatives mostly taken by USU photographer Ted Hansen from the 1950s to the 1990s.

Joseph Jeppe Larsen photograph collection, 1890-1920

Abstract: Fifty-eight glass-plate photographic negatives and 5 photographic prints. The images document the town of Newton, Utah and the surrounding area or are related to the Joseph Jeppe Larsen and the Larsen family. The images were collected or taken by J. J. Larsen and his brother Hyrum. Included are images of agriculture, irrigation, the Newton Cooperative Store, social and church activites, homes, schools, the Wheelon coffer dam on the Bear River, J.J. Larsen and the Larsen family, the 1897 Agricultural College of Utah graduating class, Cache Junction, and the Newton tithing house.

Utah juniper photograph collection, 1947-1970.

Abstract: 888 photographs and negatives, mostly from the early 1950's, that were taken for publication in the Utah Juniper. Included are images of students, faculty, research projects, field trips, and a variety of student activities from the forestry school. Also included are images of the USU forestry camp buildings, summer camp, campus buildings, forestry club activities, Logan Canyon, and the Cache National Forest. Most photographs in this collection correspond with the 1952, 1953 and 1954 issues of the Utah Juniper.

Retired originals collection, 1860-1965

Abstract: Approximately 290 photographs (collodion, gelatin, carte-de-viste, tintype, cabinet card, etc.) dating from the 1860s to the 1960s. These originals were removed from the "A-board photograph collection" for preservation reasons and replaced with substitute copies. The A-board photograph collection contains photographs that were mounted onto boards, cataloged individually, and located in filing cabinets. There are three groups, Utah State University (USU) boards; Compton Photograph Studio genre and landscape scenes from Box Elder County, and miscellaneous images. Most of the photographs are of Utah State University, Cache Valley, or Utah scenes. The remainder are formal studio portraits, photos from Mormon history, or images of the American West.

Utah State University publicity portraits, 1950-1996

Abstract: Photographic portraits of 681 different faculty members, students, staff, award recipients, and speakers (including Paul Newman, Jack Anderson, and James Stewart) at Utah State University that were taken and collected for publicity reasons. Most of the photos are black and white and 4x5 inches or smaller. Often there are several images of each person. Included in the collection are five former Utah State University presidents (Franklin S. Harris, Glen L. Taggart, George Emert, Louis L. Madsen, and Stanford Cazier) and one former Utah governor (George Dewey Clyde). These images were taken from the 1950s to the 1990s.

Utah State University student activity photographs, 1960-1970

Abstract: 398 black and white photographs, depicting a wide variety of student activities on the university campus and in the city of Logan, Utah. Most of the photographs were taken in and around the Student Union (later named the Taggart Student Center). Photographs include various student-sponsored dances (including student committees and advertisements), talent contests and other student musical and theatrical performances, homecoming activities, art exhibits, international student displays, winter carnival, and publicity photos of various professional acts who performed on campus. The publicity photographs represent a wide range of talent of the era, including recording artist and Broadway actor Josh White, Jr., folk singers Bob Gibson and Ruan Mackinnon, comedian and civil rights activist Dick Gregory, jazz pianist Vince Guaradi, and modern dance artist Barry Lynn.

The military science and tactics photograph collection, 1917-1920

Abstract: The bulk of these 37 oversized photographs depict cadets of the Military Science and Tactics Department of the Utah Agricultural College (now Utah State University) during review and drill, 1918. At that time, the two year military course was compulsory for all physically able male students as a prerequisite of graduation. Included are photographs of Governor Simon Bamberger reviewing the cadets, and of the cadets wearing surgical masks due to the influenza epidemic of that year; also, there are some prints depicting students in mechanic arts and home economics.
