Biographical Note
Henry Hart Spalding (1839-1898), business owner and operator of Almota, WA, was the son of Henry Harmon Spalding (1803-1874) and Eliza Hart Spalding (1807-1851), pioneer missionaries in the Pacific Northwest. His sons, including Marcus W. Spalding (1897-1975) and Horace H. Spalding (1881-1962), and Frederick Eugene Spalding (1885-1928), were actively engaged in various businesses in Almota.
Content Description
This bound volume reflects account activity for a warehouse at Almota, Washington, owned by the Spalding family. The name Eugene Spalding appears at the front of the volume. The volume was repurposed at a later time as a recipe book, with clippings pasted in and accompanying notes. These additions obscure the account information recorded on some leaves.
