Content DescriptionReturn to Top

This collection contains various program materials, including grant applications, newsletters, handbooks and manuals, pamphlets, monographs, and reports related to early childhood intervention and familial education for children with visual and hearing disabilities. Also included is a set of 20 VHS cassettes used for training.

Historical NoteReturn to Top

The SKI*HI (also SKI-HI) Institute was founded in 1972 by Dr. Tom Clark, a professor of deaf education at Utah State University. Its purpose was to create intervention programs in the home that could support families and young children with disabilities, particularly deafness and blindness. These training programs have been distributed throughout all 50 states in the US and a number of international locations, and have been used to foster communication and education for thousands of families.
