Historical Note
The HTS club was founded in 2017 at OSU as a student advocacy organization in response to the rescinding of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) in 2017. In the winter of 2018, the club drafted a proposal for a resource center with the aim to provide resources and support for undocumented students. This proposal, submitted in spring of 2018, was initially rejected, but was approved upon resubmission in the summer of 2018. The Dreaming Beyond Borders Resource Center, located in Waldo Hall under the purview of the Educational Opportunities Program, hosted its grand opening in the winter of 2019. Since then club and resource center students have attended larger events such as the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in 2019, as well as created events like the Dreamers Summit and Undocu-Ally Symposium. The club and resource center have hosted workshops both for undocumented students and for those who wish to support them focusing on financial aid, professional development, rights and accesses to resources, and how to support undocumented students at OSU. In addition to that, they have hosted social events for the students and to raise awareness in the wider campus community, and they have provided a physical space for students with the DBB Resource Center.
Content Description
The HTS and DBB Records consist of materials related to the administration and outreach/community engagement of HTS and DBB between the years of 2017-2024. Despite being separate entities, the materials are included within the same collection because of their intertwined histories and activities. The administrative materials include materials detailing the creation and continuation of HTS and DBB, including proposals, marketing materials, and photographs of the staff and the DBB Resource Center. The outreach and community engagement materials reflect events attended and hosted by HTS and DBB. This includes larger scale events such as national conferences, summits, and symposiums, or smaller events put on for the OSU community, such as social nights, workshops, and "I Stand With Immigrants Day" activities.
The collection consists of two series, with 27 digital folders; the entire collection is digital and fully available upon request.
File formats include: .jpg, .jpeg, .pdf, .png, .mp4
