Alice Kasai papers, 1911-2007

Abstract: The Alice Kasai papers (1911-2007) contain correspondence, reports, news clippings, articles, pamphlets, brochures, programs, awards, and newsletters related to the public life of this Utah writer and community activist. Alice Kasai (1916-2007), raised in a small town in rural Utah, saw her husband taken away by the FBI and incarcerated in an internment camp in the early days of World War II. She has been active in community affairs for more than 50 years. She has been affiliated with the Japanese American Citizen's League, the Asian Association of Utah, the United Nations Association of Utah, and the Organization of Utah Citizens for Civil Rights. She was honored by YWCA of Salt Lake City with an Outstanding Achievement Award in the area of Human Services in 1994.

Abstract: The Tsutomu and Shirley Sugimoto Inouye papers (1951-2006) consist of scanned copies of the military documents and Japanese American Korean War Veterans materials. Tom Inouye served in Battery A 90th Field Artillery Battalion during the Korean War.

John K. Kasubuchi copy print collection, 1943-1953

Abstract: John K. Kasubuchi (1921-2010) was a Japanese American veteran who served in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team during World War II before training at the Military Intelligence Service Language School and serving as a translator in Japan and in the Korean War. This colleciton contains copies of images and certificates related to Kasubuchi's military service dating from approximately 1943 to 1953.

Mizuta family papers, 1941-1947

Abstract: Collection includes correspondence, documents, photographs, and ephemera, primarily relating to the Mizuta family's incarceration at the Heart Mountain Relocation Center in Wyoming; clearance for family members to leave the incarceration center to operate a farm; and family members' military service during the war. Family members represented in the collection include Fred Mizuta, George Mizuta, Haruye Izuta, Ito Mizuta, and Nobuo Mizuta.
