Historical Note
The Purchasing Agent dates back to at least 1896 but has gone by various names such as "Office of Purchasing" and "Office of the Purchasing Agent." The Purchasing Agent was later absorbed into the Board of Regents. The Purchasing Agent served to buy materials, and equipment for the University. The Purchasing Agent served to oversee the Board of Directors and sign off on purchases for the University. Purchases were submitted to the Board of Regents for approval. The Board of Regents votes on matters of purchasing, but the Purchasing Agent signs off on the purchases.
