Historical NoteReturn to Top
Glenn Walker Wallace (1898-1988) was the daughter of Matthew Henry Walker, one of the four Walker brothers who made their mark on Utah through banking and mining ventures. Matthew H. Walker was a co-founder and first president of the Walker Bank and Trust Company. Glenn Wallace's husband, John McChrystal Wallace, was president of the bank from 1944 to 1957 and carried out various other civic responsibilities throughout his life. Glenn, a prominent musician and dancer, co-founded the Utah Symphony (1939) and Ballet West (1962) and served terms as president for both institutions. She received the honor of Grand Cross Dame of the Knightly Order of St. Brigitte in 1967 and was inducted into the Venerable Order of St. John of Jerusalem in 1970, among other honors.
