Historical Note
The OSU Promise Internship Program, based in Corvallis, Oregon, was founded in 1992 through the collaboration between multiple Oregon State University agencies including the offices of Human Resources, Affirmative Action, Multicultural Affairs, Educational Opportunities Program, Vice Provost for Student Affairs, and the Oregon Department of Administrative Services. The program was designed to provide professional, technical, and managerial work experience for university students from underrepresented backgrounds in various state and university agencies across Oregon. The core purpose of the program was to introduce and engage the students into the Oregon workforce. The program provided ten-week full-time paid internships during the summer months to a group of competitively selected students. The internships were predominantly hosted by Corvallis-based entities and always within the state of Oregon. During the ten weeks, students would gain hands on experience while also receiving mentorship through their sponsoring agency; students and sponsors would also be encouraged to attend regular networking opportunities through the program.
Content Description
The OSU Promise Internship Program Collection contains documents relating to interns and sponsors such as applications, evaluations, and training materials. Also included are financial documents, correspondence, memos, as well as flyers and programs for various program related events and activities such as orientation and kick-off luncheons, brown bag luncheons, and professional development activities. Of note are materials documenting interns' projects and accomplishments throughout their internships.
The date range of the collection is 1991-2017; however, the collection does not include documentation for the years 2004 and 2015.

Series 1: OSU Promise Internship Program, 1991-2017
This series contains documents relating to the operation of the OSU Promise Internship Program based in Corvallis, Oregon. Documents cover a date range spanning from 1991 to 2017 (excluding 2004 and 2015) and include a wide range of materials which include but are not limited to intern directories, memos, pamphlets, sponsor and intern applications, and financial documents. Also included are programs and flyers for various events hosted as part of the program such as the kickoff luncheon, orientation, and brown bag luncheon. Of note are materials pertaining to individual student final projects which were a key focus of the program.
