Student Leadership and Involvement Records, 1964-2015

Series 1 is made up of correspondence, letters, memoranda, and thank you cards documenting interaction between Student Leadership and Involvement staff, other OSU university offices/departments, and off-campus organizations. Subjects addressed in this series include: budgetary management, policy clarification, office space planning, surveys, Memorial Union renovations, administrative restructuring, and student service programs.

Series 2 documents Student Leadership and Involvement staff meetings and department retreats. In addition to meeting agendas and notes, this series includes correspondence, flyers, budget information, lists of student organizations, and reference materials in the form of copied book chapters and articles.

Series 3 reflects the work of the Student Activities Committee and other university committees populated by Student Leadership and Involvement staff. The materials in this series include budgetary records, bylaws, committee membership lists, correspondence, meeting minutes and agendas, and reports. Student Activities Committee records pertaining to student conduct incidents have been moved to Series 21.

Series 4 consists of reports containing information compiled by Student Leadership and Involvement staff as a part of annual and quarterly department reviews. Other reports in this series document assessment planning, public relations, and the administrative restructuring of the Memorial Union.

Series 5 is made up of handbooks, manuals, and guides generated by Student Leadership and Involvement for the training of student organization officers and SLI staff.

Series 6 is comprised of publications produced by Student Leadership and Involvement that include newsletters, informational brochures, lists of student clubs, and guides.

Series 7 is made up of certificates awarded by Student Leadership and Involvement to honor students, faculty advisors, and student organizations. There are also honors received by SLI and individual SLI staff.

Series 8 is made up of information about Student Leadership and Involvement staff regarding position titles, contact info, and placement in the organizational structure of the department.

Series 9 documents events and activities organized by Student Leadership and Involvement and various student organizations. In addition to listings of registered student and general campus events, this series contains budgetary records, correspondence, evaluations, event programs, flyers, meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, posters, speeches, and tickets. Among the activities reflected in this series organized by SLI include award ceremonies and events featured as a part of the OSU Connect New Student Orientation Program. This series also contains digital content totaling 85.6 Megabytes and 61 files.

Series 10 documents the Office of Student Organization Development and their interaction with various student clubs and organizations with regard to event advising, coordination of annual registration, and the training of club officers. Materials in this series include correspondence, event programs, flyers, meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, notes, publications, and lists of registered student organizations. This series also contains digital content that occupies a total of 508 Megabytes in 160 files.

Series 11 is comprised of materials generated and collected by the Greek Life Office that reflect sorority and fraternity chapters at OSU. Along with scholarship reports and lists of chapter officers, this series includes rush brochures and correspondence between Greek Life staff and various chapters regarding event coordination and compliance with university regulations.

Series 12 documents the Diversity Development Office and its management of the OSU Cultural Centers, hiring of staff, and coordination of events. In addition to regularly distributed news bulletins, this series includes budgetary records, correspondence, event programs, flyers, meeting agendas, mission statements, newspaper clippings, position descriptions, and publications.

Series 13 relates to programs managed by the Leadership Development Office with the primary emphasis upon the Student Development Transcript and the Emerging Leader Classes (co-administered by the College Student Services Administration program).

Series 14 contains materials relating to the OSU Women's Center and is made up of informational brochures, a list of Women's Center Advisory Committee members, budget information, and a memorandum.

Series 15 consists of materials collected by Student Leadership and Involvement staff in preparation for workshop instruction, research, and the gathering of reference resources. This series is primarily up of photocopies of articles and book chapters, but also includes brochures, lesson plans, newspaper clippings, and student papers.

Series 16 is made up of photographic images depicting Student Leadership and Involvement offices, staff, and events. There are also shots of activities organized by various student organizations. The physical photographs in this series number 88 in total (84 prints and 4 negatives) and there are 95 digital images. The digital content in this series totals 59.6 Megabytes.

Series 17 is comprised of a photograph album with images depicting events organized by Student Leadership and Involvement and portrait shots of SLI staff. This series contains 103 photographic prints.

Series 18 is comprised of scrapbooks assembled by Student Leadership and Involvement staff that are mostly made up of newspaper clippings, but also include photographs, brochures, event programs, and flyers. The scrapbooks document events organized by student organizations, ASOSU projects, OSU cultural center activities, and news stories about SLI. This series contains 3 photographic prints.

Series 19 consists of 4 VHS videotapes and 1 digital file containing footage of informational presentations about the student development transcript program, interviews with Student Leadership and Involvement staff, student organization events, a student development seminar/retreat, and a training workshop for Student Activities Committee members.

Series 20 is made up of a reel-to-reel sound recording of a 1975 public hearing about OSU's requirement that freshmen live in campus housing.

Series 21 consists of student conduct files generated by the Student Activities Committee in the course of reviewing rule violations by student organizations. In addition to correspondence and meeting minutes, this series contains 7 cassette sound recordings of conduct hearings. There are written transcripts for one of the recordings.

Access to these files is restricted due to the presence of confidential information. All requests for access to these materials should be directed to the University Archivist.
