Historical Note
Washington State University dates to 1890, with first classwork beginning in 1892. Pending further research, the nature and breadth of the school's presentations and involvement at the 1904 and 1905 Expositions is unclear.
Content Description
The collection consists of five individual oversized certificates, each detailing awards received by Washington State College from one of two Expositions. Most are approximately 2 feet high by 1.5 feet wide. One certificate is from the 1904 Universal Exposition in St. Louis; the other four are from the 1905 Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition in Portland, OR.

Acquisition Information
The materials in this collection were, based on accession numbers, received at Washington State College's Libraries in 1934 from an unidentified source and placed in the general stacks. They were transferred to Washington State University Libraries' Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections (MASC) sometime prior to 2001 by parties unknown, and retained without an accession number.
