Content Description

Marjorie Kocher created the rubbings of large brass funerary monuments in the 1960s. Preservation concerns resulted in a discontinuation of the rubbing practice. Rubbings of memorial monuments are a valued source of information about the evolution of military armor, religious vestments, and other dress and customs in the British Isles in this era. Kocher provided accompanying information that she authored, including her "Annotated Listing of Monumental Brasses of the British Isles" and "Monumental Brasses of the British Isles: An Introduction."
