            monuments which date from the 13th to 17th centuries. Scholars of Medieval Studies and
            Shakespeare and his times will find the rubbings useful. The collection contains eighty
            medieval monumental brass rubbings of the British Isles.</abstract>

         <p>Materials in this collection were arranged by Marjorie B. Kocher</p>
         <p>Box 1: Medieval monumental brass rubbings dated 1277 – 1327. Box 2: Medieval monumental
            brass rubbings dated 1361 - 1400. Box 3: Medieval monumental brass rubbings dated 1407 –
            1470. Box 4: Medieval monumental brass rubbings dated the 1400s - 1521. Box 5: Medieval
            monumental brass rubbings dated 1524 – 1671. Box 6: Kocher Monumental Brass Rubbings
            photographs. Additionally, there are eleven framed Medieval monumental brass rubbings
            dated 1408 – 1594.</p>

      <bioghist encodinganalog="545">

         <p>Marjorie Kocher, of Bend, Oregon, is a former member of the Monumental Brass Society of
            London and has been a guest Gresham lecturer for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.</p>
      </bioghist>
      <scopecontent encodinganalog="5202_">

         <p>Marjorie Kocher created the rubbings of large brass funerary monuments in the 1960s.
            Preservation concerns resulted in a discontinuation of the rubbing practice. Rubbings of
            memorial monuments are a valued source of information about the evolution of military
            armor, religious vestments, and other dress and customs in the British Isles in this
            era. Kocher provided accompanying information that she authored, including her
            "Annotated Listing of Monumental Brasses of the British Isles" and "Monumental Brasses
            of the British Isles: An Introduction."</p>
