Student Affairs Records, 1924-2012

Annual and Biennial Reports hold assessments and/or summaries of a broad range of topics related to student affairs consistently from 1961 to 1995. Many of the reports are broken down into sections such as the Associate Dean of Students, Student Services, Counseling and Testing Center, Financial Aid, Housing, Memorial Union and Student Activities, Student Health Services, Special Projects, Center for Research and Student Health. Each of these departments/offices/groups sent a report to their Department Head, which was then compiled and given to the Dean of Students. Many of the reports contain statistics related to their subject area.

Committees contains minutes, correspondences, and documents from different committees involved in student affairs. The majority of these records are from the 1970s-1990s.

The Student Incidental Fees Committee is a large part of this series. Many of the records document budgets and expenses of different areas of student affairs such as the MU, physical recreation, and educational activities, and both men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletics (W.I.C.A).

Among the subjects addressed: Commuter students, disabilities, family and parental concerns, faculty, sports and recreation, and university discipline.

Subject Files consist of a large range of material related to student activities. Topics with more material include: Admissions, ASOSU Senate records, student housing, and different student groups. Additionally there are records from the OSU chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta a national freshman honors society. Of particular note there is a directory of “Black Potential” by the Urban League of Portland from 1973. This directory contains similar information as one would find on a resume such as work experience and qualifications of members of the Urban League of Portland.

The Women’s Faculty Club was an organization which promoted friendly relations between faculty women. It provided a common place for mutual understanding, promotion, and professional contacts. Minutes from 1956-1979 document meetings, and events planned by this organization. Additionally there are club rosters which document who was in the organization from 1956-1979.

Publications contain ASOSU Publications, Guide to Student Life, Residence Halls Handbook, and Son of the Piston. Aside from the Guides to Student Life, the majority of these publications are from 1970-1973.
