Since the earl 1990s, the Gay and Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest (GLAPN) has collected historical materials documenting LGBTQ communities in Oregon and throughout the Pacific Northwest. Materials collected by the organization have been regularly donated to the Oregon Historical Society.

Items include LGBT community newspapers from the Oregon cities of Portland, Salem, and Eugene; the Washington cities of Seattle, Olympia, Vancouver, and Spokane; Boise, Idaho; Vancouver, British Columbia; as well as from smaller towns in Oregon and Washington. Some national publications are included, though most contain information pertaining to the Pacific Northwest region. Also included are newsletters and promotional publications from various community support organizations.

Restrictions on Use
The Oregon Historical Society is the owner of the materials in the Research Library and makes available reproductions for research, publication, and other uses. Written permission must be obtained from the Research Library prior to any use of reproductions. The Society does not necessarily hold copyright to all the materials in the collections. In some cases, permission for use of reproductions may require seeking additional authorization from the copyright holders.

Custodial History
The materials were collected by the Gay and Lesbian Archivs of the Pacific Northwest and donated to the Oreogn Historical Society.
Acquisition Information
Materials were received in numerous small accessions since the early 1990s.
Future Additions
Materials are added to the collection periodically.
Processing Note
The collection was completely re-organized and re-processed in 2013.
Separated Materials
Periodicals not pertaining to the Pacific Northwest were transferred to the Q Center in Portland, Oregon.
