Historical Note
The first Washington Territory Constitutional Convention happened in Walla Walla, Washington in the summer of 1878. During this time, legislators came together to draft a state constitution that was approved by the majority of voters. This document was not recognized by congress. The official Washington State Constitution was composed over a decade later in 1889.
