Biographical Note
R. Belle Colver graduated from Simpson College in Indianola, IA. She came to Spokane in 1907 with her parents. Her brother, J. Newton Colver, was a sports writer and political observer for the Spokesman-Review, and she went to work for the newspaper as club news editor. She was a member of many professional organizations, including the National League of American Pen Women and the American Poetry League. Colver wrote several plays and texts for pageants, and a volume of poems, Nature’s Wondrous Ways, 1966.
