      <head>Biographical Note</head>
      <p>R. Belle Colver graduated from Simpson College in Indianola, IA. She came to Spokane in
        1907 with her parents. Her brother, J. Newton Colver, was a sports writer and political
        observer for the <title>Spokesman-Review</title>, and she went to work for the newspaper as
        club news editor. She was a member of many professional organizations, including the
        National League of American Pen Women and the American Poetry League. Colver wrote several
        plays and texts for pageants, and a volume of poems, <title>Nature’s Wondrous Ways</title>,
        1966.</p>
