Historical Note
The Save Our Stations (S.O.S.) Fund was established by Spokane accountant, Ben Harney, in an attempt to save the Great Northern and Union Pacific railroad depots in Spokane, which were scheduled for demolition in order to clear the Expo ’74 site. Although the organization never achieved its goal, it did create public discussion on the issues of historic preservation and community heritage.
