- Stoddard King was a long-time columnist for the Spokesman-Review (Spokane, Washington), editor of Harper's Weekly, and a writer of light verse. Historical Note
Stoddard King was a long-time columnist for the Spokesman-Review (Spokane, Washington), editor of Harper's Weekly, and a writer of light verse. He was a close friend of the poet Nicholas Vachel Lindsay.
Content Description
Stoddard King wrote the words for the popular song, "There's a Long, Long Trail", two manuscript versions of this are amongst the papers. King was a friend of (Nicholas) Vachel Lindsay during Lindsay's Spokane days, and the papers include a collection of Lindsay letters, manuscripts, and printed pieces.
