         <abstract encodinganalog="5203_">Stoddard King was a long-time columnist for the Spokesman-Review (Spokane, Washington), editor of Harper's Weekly, and a writer of light verse. Stoddard King wrote the words for the popular song, "There's a Long, Long Trail", two manuscript versions of this are amongst the papers, as well as documents by and about Nicholas Vachel Lindsay.</abstract>

King was a friend of (Nicholas) Vachel Lindsay during Lindsay's Spokane days, and the papers include a collection of Lindsay letters, manuscripts, and printed pieces.</p>
