Related Materials
Photographs of buildings can be found in the Campus Photographs collection (WUA9999).
Records concerning the ownership of property (mortgages, deeds, insurance, property sale records, etc.) can be found in the Business records (WUA098).
Records concerning the initial planning for and internal arrangement of buildings are often located with the records of the department occupying that building (for example the Library records, WUA129).
Processing Note
This collection has been processed and described at a folder level. The materials have been reboxed and refoldered for preservation, maintaining original folder titles and internal folder arrangements where possible. Large format materials, including blueprints, have been rolled and stored in poster tubes.
Records concerning the ownership of property (mortgages, deeds, insurance, property sale records, etc.) belong in the Business records (WUA098). Records concerning the initial planning for and internal arrangement of buildings are often located with the records of the department occupying that building (for example the Library records, WUA129), since those records are usually more reflective of the type of work that department does, rather than about the building itself.

Kaneko Residential Commons (Tokyo International University of America), 1988-2007
Kaneko Hall was originally built in 1989 to house the Tokyo International University of America (TIUA). As part of the University's 2002 Master Plan, it was reimagined as a Residential Commons, containing classrooms, offices, dormitories, recreational facilities, and dining facilities -- an all-inclusive living/learning environment. The converted and enlarged Kaneko Residential Commons opened in 2007.

University Library, 1938-2004
In 1988, the building which formerly housed the University Library was renamed Smullin Hall, and was adapted for use as classroom and office space.
The original plans for the new University Library had it located spanning the Mill Stream, where Goudy Commons currently is. The location and design were significantly revised early in 1981, when the library was moved to its current location next to (not over) the Mill Stream, and with only two floors rather than three. The building, which was named the Mark O. Hatfield Library, was built in 1985-1986 and opened in September of 1986.
