Historical Note

Peter H. Rohn (1924-2012) was a political science professor at the University of Washington. He created the World Treaty Index database, which indexed all treaties made in the 20th century. The database was widely used by political science and human rights researchers prior to mainstream use of the World Wide Web. Edmond Mignon (1929-2012) was a University of Washington Information School alumni who succeeded Peter Rohn as the Acting Director of the Treaty Research Center upon Rohn's retirement around 1989. Mignon earned a PhD in information science at the University of California, Berkeley, before returning to the UW to teach at the Information School and direct the TRC.
