Historical Note
With the proposed demolition of Snell Hall and the need for modern spaces for student organizations and offices in the mid-2000s, Oregon State University students lobbied for a new facility and renovation of the east wing of the Memorial Union. Student leaders from the Associated Students of Oregon State University and the Memorial Union lead the effort to create the new space, which was funded through student fees. Located between the Valley Library and the Memorial Union on a site that was previously a parking lot, the Student Experience Center opened in 2015 and houses centers and offices for student-lead organizations.
Content Description
The Student Experience Center Records document the initiative leading to the creation of a new facility for students and student organizations at Oregon State University. It includes campus reports, proposals and studies, the campaign to fund the building, the development of office and work spaces, records of the Space Allocation and Policy Committee, and artifacts from the grand opening of the building.
"The Beginnings", one of the publications in series 3, has been digitized.

These records were received in multiple transfers between 2010 and 2015. Materials received in 2010 were originally described as part of the Memorial Union Records and were separated into this collection in 2017.
