Historical Note

C.O. (“Larry”) Fiske (1922-1992) was a United States Naval Aviation officer and a polar explorer. He was a member of the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition of 1946-1948 and later served as the American Executive Officer at a joint American-British weather observation station at Resolute Bay, Canada. In 1950 the Navy recalled him to active duty with the rank of lieutenant, and he participated in Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica in the 1950s.
