Biographical Note
Lisel Salzer was a painter and enamelist. Born in 1906 in Vienna, Austria, she attended art school at the Vienna Art Academy where she studied painting. After graduating in 1929 she then spent a short time in Paris, before coming to the United States in 1939. She lived in New York City for 10 years before moving to in 1950 Seattle via Arizona and California. In addition to painting she began working with enamel in 1945. Most of Salzer's work consists of portrait paintings and enamel work. Salzer died in 2005.

Scope and Content: Tape recorded interview conducted by Sally Swenson on 24 Feb 1974; transcript.
Salzer discusses her early training, her move to the U.S. from Vienna, her painting and the enamel technique and various subjects of current interest in the art field.
