Historical Note

Ezra Pound, a prominent poet, was charged with treason for broadcasting pro-fascist propaganda into the U.S. during WWII, and he was later found mentally unfit to stand trial, spending years in a psychiatric hospital.

Pound was indicted on nineteen counts of treason.

He was eventually found mentally unfit to stand trial and incarcerated at St. Elizabeth's psychiatric hospital in Washington, D.C., for over 12 years.
