Historical Note

The Logan, Hyde Park, and Smithfield Canal Company was originally incorporated in 1889 to manage the Logan, Hyde Park, and Smithfield Canal, which runs from the Logan River through northern Cache Valley. Its first board members were Hyrum W. Maughan, Edward Hanson, C. Nyman, N.W. Crookston, and Lars C. Petersen. During the twentieth century, an Irrigation Company by the same name was established, which has since been reincorporated under a different name. This Canal Company remains active as of 2018.
