Historical Note

Myrtle Nord was a freelance writer and publisher. She printed the "Durango Early Times," in newspaper format, as a vehicle for her historical writings on Durango, Colorado, and the San Juan mining camps. She also wrote and published a pamphlet about "Chicken Bill" Lovell, a Leadville, Colorado, character. Her writing concentrated on Colorado mining history, but she also wrote articles about American history for popular history magazines.
