Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Henry Katsuji Hashitani (1886-1952) was born in Japan. He came to the United States in 1905 and began working on the Fujii farm in Idaho. He married Takako Yawata in 1914 and the couple had four children: Alice (Yoshiko), Raymond (Aizo), Roy (Ryoge) and George (Kenichi). The family eventually settled in Nyssa, Oregon.

Correspondence is between Mr. Hashitani and his wife, others. Diary (1905+) was written in Montana. Burial record (?) 1893+ Ontario, Oregon. Materials largely in Japanese.

Postcards to family and friends, including postcards from the United States and Japan.
