The collection consists of one typescript book manuscript, Teaching Music in the Rural School, written by Thomas Annett, Head of the Department of Music at La Crosse State Teachers College in Wisconsin. In 1935, Annett copyrighted the manuscript, which was ultimately published under a different title: Music in the Rural School: A Simple and Direct Guide Covering Subjects of Organization, Planning, Listening, Part-singing, Instrumental Music, Creative Music, Seasonable Entertainment, etc. This book was published in 1938 in Boston, Massachusetts by the Boston Music Company.
