Biographical Note
Frank Newton English and Mary Louise Plummer English were educators in Colfax, Washington. Professor Frank Newton English (1951-1931) was the proprietor of English's Collegiate School and Colfax College in Colfax, Washington.
Colfax College was a small private college founded in 1878. In 1902, Colfax College became English's Collegiate Academy, before closing its doors in the late 1920s. [source: Historylink.org, Paula Becker, "Colfax -- Thumbnail History."]
Content Description
This collection consists of: correspondence, financial records, indentures, deeds and other land records; portraits of the Englishes; and Mrs. English's school rhetoric notebook. Some materials relate to Colfax College and the Plummer family.
