Dr. James Jewell is a professor of History at Northern Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene; his focus is military history. His paper was written partially as an exemplar for his History 290 course on writing within history.

In May of 2020, John Andrew Bartruff’s granddaughter donated several of his war-related books to the archives, where they were individually cataloged. These include "600 days' service : a history of the 361st infantry regiment of the United States Army", the two volume "Forward-March!", and the five volume "Source records of the great war".
