Historical NoteReturn to Top
The American Historical Society of Germans from Russia (AHGSR) was founded in 1968, and is an international, nonprofit organization that engages in research and history of German Russians. The organization focuses its research on a group of Germans that resided along the Volga, who then immigrated to the United States in the 19th and 20th centuries. The organization started within a community of German-Russians, who predominately resided in Nebraska, Kansas, and Colorado. Volunteers and staff aimed to gather information, translate relevant texts, and develop genealogical information for future generations of German-Russians.
