The collection contains an unpublished manuscript of stories written down for Teal's daughter, titled, "Stories from the Sage Brush Land." The stories are a series of reminiscences of ranch life in eastern Oregon. Dates are not specified, but events probably occurred in the 1850s through the 1870s.
The manuscript comes with a table of contents, and each "chapter" is a story. At the end of the manuscript there are two essays, on is "Crossing the Plains in '53" (the Nathan Coleman party), and another is "Moving from Eugene to The Dalles, 1862."
