Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Albert S. Kerry (1866-1939) was a Northwest lumberman known for his business acumen and for his civil involvement, in both Washington and Oregon. Kerry was Vice-President of the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition (1909) and spearheaded the construction of the Olympic Hotel in downtown Seattle in 1924.

Collection consists of photographs of Albert S. Kerry, his wife Katherine, and children Olive May, Albert S. Jr. and Lucy Glen. Other photos depict Kerry golfing and accepting a check from the first customer at the Olympic Hotel in Seattle. Also includes photographs of Kerry residences, including 2 summer homes built for Albert Jr. and Olive Kerry in the late 1930s, designed by modernist architect Paul Thiry. Papers document the Kerry Timber Company business and also include autobiographical writings by Kerry and documents related to the content of some of the photographs.
