Historical NoteReturn to Top

Need for both electric power and agricultural water supply resulted in multiple dams being placed on rivers in the Columbia River drainage basin in the mid 20th century. These included the Dworshak Dam (Clearwater North Fork, initial construction running from 1966-1972), Ice Harbor Dam (Snake River, 1955-1961), and the Little Goose Dam (Snake River, 1963-1970), among many others.

Arrangement

The collection is organized by dam, with each of the three most commonly depicted dams (Dworshak, Ice Harbor, Little Goose) in their own folders, and the remaining five images of four other dams placed in a fourth folder.

Location of Collection

(FOR MASC USE) All images are located in oversize storage cabinets.

Acquisition Information

This collection was received at WSU Libraries' Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections prior to 2009 from an unknown source; nothing is known about its provenance.
