Office of Admissions Records, 1961-2009

Series I consists of materials documenting the administration of the Admissions Office, during the years that Wallace Gibbs was director. In addition to budget reports and procedures for employee evaluations and promotion and tenure for student affairs faculty, the annual summary reports provide information on recruiting activities, new student programs, and interactions of the Admissions Office with other campus units, including International Education, Financial Aid, Graduate School, and the Educational Opportunities Program.

Series III documents recruitment efforts at college fairs throughout the United States, staffed primarily by Oregon State University alumni volunteers. The records include lists of fairs attended, evaluation forms completed by the alumni volunteers, correspondence, and photographs of the Oregon State table at several of the fairs.

Series III consists of materials from the files of Kay Conrad. The bulk of the records document the AAUW Senior Woman Recognition Award and other student organizations with which Conrad was associated.

Series V consists of correspondence written and received by Wallace Gibbs and Kay Conrad as well as correspondence pertaining to advanced standing procedures and the Mapping Your Education publication.

Series VI consists of Enrollment and Retention Committee Records, reports, and related materials documenting admissions statistics, enrollment, and retention of Oregon State students.

Series VII documents orientation programs offered for new Oregon State students during the summer and at the beginning of academic terms. A book of readings and exercises for the OSU Odyssey orientation course is also included. Orientation booklets and brochures are avaialable in IX. Publications.

Series VIII consists of records of the annual event for Oregon High School principals and counselors on the Oregon State campus, during which the principals and counselors received information about the academic and student programs at Oregon State and met with Oregon State students from their respective high schools. Representatives of Oregon Native American tribes also attended these events. Photographs of the 1986 event are included.

Series IX consists of publications for recruitment and orientation of new students to Oregon State. The publications provide information about academic programs, student activities, student support services, and the Oregon State campus. The series includes two issues of the viewbook that were produced on CD-ROM.

Series X documents recruitment activities in California, Idaho, Nevada, and Washington, primary by Admissions Office staff and includes travel itineraries, evaluations, and related materials.

Series XI consists of policies, procedures, committee records, correspondence, and related documentation pertaining to residence classification for payment of in-state or out-of-state tuition and tuition agreements with universities in other states.

Series XII includes reports providing detailed information about admissions to Oregon State from the late 1960s through 1990s, long-range planning reports and documents, and reports of policies and studies. The Annual Admissions Reports provide summary data on new students (freshmen and transfer) entering during the fall term such as location of high school or college attended previously, test scores, high school grade point average, and advance placement status. A consultant's review of the Admissions and Registar's Offices conducted in 1985 is included. Many of the reports provide statistical information about ethnic minority students.

Series XIII consists of correspondence, policies, reports, and related documentation pertaining to the admission of graduate, post-baccalaureate, international, and minority students. Of special note are materials pertaining to programs for improving recruitment of minority students, including achievement awards.

Series XIV consists of the records of the Undergraduate Admissions Committee, primarily policies, procedures, minutes, agendas, correspondence and related materials. Subject files pertaining to the 5% Special Admit and Experimental Modification of Admission Requirements (EMAR) programs provide information about programs for ethnic minority students and the Educational Opportunities Program.
