Biographical Note

Brent Douglas Galloway, professor emeritus of First Nations University and the University of Regina (Saskatchewan, British Columbia), studied Salish languages, primarily Halkomelem, Nooksack, and Samish. Halkomelem is spoken by the Sto:lo (or Stalo) people. Galloway's linguistic studies also included Gullah and Black English. In his research, Galloway focused on semantics and phonology. He developed a semantic theory entitled, "multi-dimensional semantics." Galloway also researched the complexities of computer processing for these languages.

Content Description

The papers consist mainly of field notes, research files, audio recordings, publications, curricula, correspondence and photographs.
