"Lone Tree Dispatch"Return to Top

The "Lone Tree Dispatch," in a form of a "round-robin-letter," was addressed to Abraham Owen Smott III when he was serving as a missionary in the Southern States for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS).

Abraham was the nephew of Isaac and Mary Bullock, owners of the Bullock Ranch in Wyoming where the "Lone Tree Dispatch" was written, and where Abraham had ridden the range with his cousins and served as a ranch hand before going on his mission.

The family of Abraham's uncle, Isaac II, Uncle "Ike," conceived the idea of the news letters to Abraham. Besides letters from his Bullock cousins and his Uncle "Ike" and Aunt Mary, the "Dispatch" includes communications from his Grandmother Electa Wood Bullock, his Aunt Hanna Bullock Tucker, and her son Dean, all of Provo, Utah.
