Henry Zenk, PhD, is a leading specialist in Chinook Jargon, an American northwest coast indigenous-based language adopted by European and American traders and settlers in the 18th and 19th centuries. Dr. Zenk is a consultant and instructor in the Chinuk Wawa language program at Grande Ronde Confederated Tribes, Oregon.

Scope and Content: Unpublished research paper: "Source and Contents of Field Notebook 131 in the Melville Jacobs Papers." The research paper concerns the identity of the source for "Upper Umpqua texts in English, with some native forms, by Elizabeth D. Jacobs" in the Melville Jacobs papers which Zenk believes to be a non-Upper Umpqua speaker, Jennie Riggs, rather than "Mrs. Jerden?" as the notebook lists.
