Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Alumna Jeannette Ingle (Cox) attended Oregon State College for two academic years, 1931/32 and 1932/33. Born in Portland, Oregon, in 1910, she graduated from Albany (Oregon) High School and was a lifelong resident of Corvallis. Cox was an avid photographer and was active in the Alpha Rebecca Lodge of Corvallis and the Beulah Rebecca Lodge of Albany.

From 1950 until the early 1960s, Cox was employed as a clerk/stenographer in the Chemistry Department at Oregon State College; in the 1960s, she worked as the secretary to the Director of the Pacific Northwest Water Laboratory.

The Pacific Northwest Water Laboratory was established in the early 1960s, first housed in temporary offices on the OSU campus and later in a new building on 35th Street completed in 1966. The Laboratory was initially part of the US Public Health Service and in 1967 was transferred to the Federal Water Pollution Control Adminstration within the Department of Interior. The Laboratory became part of the newly formed Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1970 and is now known as the EPA Corvallis Enviromental Research Laboratory.
