Two scrapbooks compiled by Gertrude B. (Downey) Hein, a resident of Palouse, Washington. One scrapbook consists chiefly of letters, typescript poems, and newspaper columns, all written by Hein's sister, Belle Angstadt, of Priest River and Coolin, Idaho; the second consists mainly of photos of friends and family, including Belle Angstadt and her friend, filmmaker Nell Shipman, who made silent films at Priest Lake, Idaho. The first scrapbook also contains clippings relating to the activities of Hein and her husband, Dr. Ernst T. Hein; the second contains many photos taken in and around Priest Lake.
Archive holds a preservation copy of the scrapbooks as well as the originals.
