James B. Barton was a photographer living and working in Seattle from approximately 1900 until the late 1960s. He is listed in the city directory variously as a bookeeper, collector, photographer, salesman and insurance agent. James B. Barton and his brother Arthur formed the Barton Brothers photography studio.

Photographs depicting various street scenes in Seattle; U.S. Army transport ships, probably departing for the Philippines in 1900; and Denny Hall on the University of Washington campus. They were made by the Barton Brothers, probably Arthur and James B. Barton.
The photographs were probably originally part of an album.
