Roscoe Nelson (1879-1937) was a lawyer and businessman originally from Virginia. He graduated from Virginia Law School and moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1911. He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel and was active in Jewish societies and civic organizations.

Materials previously designated Mss 2848-1 include correspondence, 1918-1939; a scrapbook, 1935-1945; speeches; and papers related to the bar examination, circa 1930-1937.
