Roscoe Nelson (1879-1937) was a lawyer and businessman originally from Virginia. He graduated from Virginia Law School and moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1911. He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel and was active in Jewish societies and civic organizations.

Collection includes correspondence, 1897-1937; legal papers, 1902-1938; Anti-Semitism speeches and articles; Jewish community material; Tualatin Country Club correspondence, rosters, etc., 1916-1924; tax protest, 1939; financial papers; and documents relating to Kelly Process, Inc., 1934-1956. Materials previously designated Mss 2848-1 include correspondence, 1918-1939; a scrapbook, 1935-1945; speeches; and papers related to the bar examination, circa 1930-1937.
