Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Baruch Shapiro was rabbi of Herzl Congregation from sometime after 1906 until the late 1920s when the congregation switched from orthodox to conservative Judaism. Then he and a small band of followers established the orthodox Machsikay Hadath Congregation. He died in 1970 at the age of 87.

Court papers are from the probate of Rabbi Shapiro's will. He died in 1970 at 87. Also includes notices to the congregation of Machzikay Hadath regarding the merger with Bikur Cholim, and their "Joint Plan and Agreement of Merger of Machzikay Hadath and Bikur Cholim."
