      </did>
      <bioghist encodinganalog="5450_" id="a2">
         <p>Baruch Shapiro was rabbi of Herzl Congregation from sometime after
		  1906 until the late 1920s when the congregation switched from orthodox to
		  conservative Judaism. Then he and a small band of followers established the
		  orthodox Machsikay Hadath Congregation. He died in 1970 at the age of 87.</p>

				Merger of Machzikay Hadath and Bikur Cholim."</p>
