Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Guy Mannering Scott (1887-1955) was a commercial photographer based in Seattle who took many photographs of Seattle street life, transportation and events. He married Fern E. McDaniel who was possibly a relative of Ira J. Webster of Webster and Stevens Photographers.

Historical BackgroundReturn to Top

Kenneth Sigurd Sjulstad was born in Rice County Minnesota in June 11, 1921. He joined the National Guard in 1941 and married Leona Leadon in January 29, 1944. They established their home in Seattle, Washington where he worked as a carrier. In 1956 Sjulstad discovered eight boxes of glass plate negatives in the basement of his home that previously may have been owned by the photographer Guy M. Scott. The glass plate negatives were donated to the University of Washington in October of 1956. Sjulstad died on July 9, 1998.
