		  ships, Marine Corps recruiting activities, UW football games, and a parade
		  probably connected to World War I, circa 1919</abstract></did><bioghist encodinganalog="5450_" id="a2"><p>Guy Mannering Scott (1887-1955) was a commercial photographer based in
		  Seattle who took many photographs of Seattle street life, transportation and
		  events. He married Fern E. McDaniel who was possibly a relative of Ira J.
		  Webster of Webster and Stevens Photographers.</p></bioghist><odd type="hist"><p>Kenneth Sigurd Sjulstad was born in Rice County Minnesota in June 11,
		  1921. He joined the National Guard in 1941 and married Leona Leadon in January
		  29, 1944. They established their home in Seattle, Washington where he worked as
		  a carrier. In 1956 Sjulstad discovered eight boxes of glass plate negatives in
		  the basement of his home that previously may have been owned by the
		  photographer Guy M. Scott. The glass plate negatives were donated to the
		  University of Washington in October of 1956. Sjulstad died on July 9, 1998.</p></odd><scopecontent encodinganalog="5202_" id="a3"><p>Photographs probably made near or at the end of World War I, in
		  Seattle by photographer Guy M. Scott. Includes images of steamships and sailing
		  vessels in Seattle harbor, unidentified shipbuilding facilities, Marine Corps
		  recruiting activities, University of Washington football games, automobile test
		  drives, street scenes and storefronts, streetcars, boating and crew races,
		  soldiers and sailors, and parades through downtown Seattle probably connected
		  to World War I. A few of his photographs are marked with the Webster and
		  Stevens Photographers signature and were probably for newspaper

		  basement of his home at 6506 17th Avenue Northeast, Seattle, Washington and was
		  donated to the University of Washington in October of 1956. The collection was
		  examined in June, 1963 and approximately three-fourths of the negatives were
