Montana Relief Commission Records, 1934-1936

Abstract: This collection is a subgroup (Predecessor Agency) of the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services records. In 1937, the Montana Relief Commission merged with various other State Boards and Divisions to form the new Montana Department of Public Welfare. The Department of Public Welfare dissolved in 1971 and was replaced with the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS). In 1995, SRS merged with parts of the Department of Health and Environmental Sciences to form the Department of Public Health and Human Services. Records of the Montana Relief Commission (1934-1935) consist of annual reports by the State Examiner; a list of members of county relief committees; and interoffice correspondence, financial records, and reports (1935-1936) pertaining to disbursements of federal earthquake emergency funds for Helena; and an office manual describing social welfare laws and Social Welfare Department policies and procedures.

Abstract: This collection is a subgroup (Board) of the Montana Department of Transportation records, RS 492. Please see the primary finding aid for more Montana Department of Transportation records . These records of the Montana Aeronautics Commission (now named Aeronautic Board) consist of correspondence, minutes, reports, and subject files. There are also records for the Montana Aviation History Project, headed by Frank W. Wiley, consisting of research materials used in compiling the book Montana and the Air , a history of Montana's aviation industry and aviation pioneers.
